I've decided to switch servers to one my friend is on. He has a lvl 37 Warden and a 50 something or other and another friend has a 50ish Champion.
We've been experimenting a bit to see what the best way is to get a toon caught up to him is. I was curious if there were any tried and true ways of having a high level player help a low level player gain levels.
What we've tried so far:
1. First, we got my Runekeeper up to level 15 through questing with one of his alts.
2. At 15 he switched to his 37 Warden and I joined him while he killed blue to yellow mobs to him. This seemed to get decent xp for a while.
3. Around 20 our lvl 50ish Champion joined us and the 3 of us took on larger groups of high 30s to low 40s. This xp seemed great.
4. After our 50ish friend left we decided to have me work on quests at the Forsaken Inn since there were a number of them in a small area we could go through. So with the 37 Warden killing everything I was able to go through these quests pretty quickly. This xp seemed great as well.
I think overall him helping me get through quests seemed the most. But when our 50ish friend was helping tackle large groups of mobs that seemed very good as well. Which made me wonder if we could have found even larger groups of mobs of lower levels that the 37 and 50 could lay waste to them much quicker than the lvl 40 mobs, yielding much quicker experience.
The only flaw in that plan is that we have no idea if there are any areas with large amounts of spawns that would be suitable for that.
We were doing the barbarian hillmen (whatever they're called) in the Lone Lands I believe it was. There are good populations of them, but it was still a bit dangerous to the 50ish Champion. And as a 25 Runekeeper there was only so much healing I could do. Not to mention it was very hazardous to my health if there were any adds or I grabbed aggro due to my healing.
So what's the general consensus? Has there been much experimentation with this? Is racing someone through quests the fastest? If so, is there a set of quests for each level range we should be looking at?
Or is having higher level players lay waste to low level mobs faster? And if so, where are some good areas for that sort of thing?
